Kevin Taveirne

Kevin Taveirne began his career in the fire service in 2007 as a Volunteer Firefighter in Balaton, Minnesota. He accepted a career firefighter position with the Greenville Fire & Rescue Department, NC in 2009. Deputy Chief Taveirne has fulfilled the roles of Firefighter/EMT, crew leader, and even served on the NC Urban Search and Rescue Task Force 10 while with GFR. In 2015, he accepted the position of Lieutenant with Swansboro FD and not long after he was promoted to Captain. In January of 2024, he accepted the opportunity to help our community on a wider scale as the Fire Marshal for the Town of Newport. DC Taveirne also oversees Fire Prevention activities, Public Relations events, the NC OSFM Smoke Alarm initiative, and assists with daily Operations as needed. Deputy Chief Taveirne has a Bachelor`s Degree in Emergency and Disaster Management from Western Carolina University. He holds Fire Inspector Level 3, Fire Officer 3, two Associate Degrees, EMT, and various other certifications. He also volunteers monthly with Boy Scouts of America Troop 219.
